Pitchfork has the juice on the cover art for MIA's new album, /|/\/\A/|\ or whatever the fuck it's called, spelled, whatevs. I'm getting a vibe that screams modern update of Elastica's "The Menace." Didn't MIA design that too?

VIDEO: Kylie Minogue 'All The Lovers'

I'm all about Kylie Minogue, and think it was a global crime that "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" was left off most Best of 2000s song list (turns out we could get her out). But she's been spotty since then, and I can't even think of any other songs to properly name drop here. My brother in LA posted this yesterday, and while the song is another pint-sized serving of Meh, people are getting all sorts of Freak Nasty. Good enough for Hump Day.

Dragonette summer tour: 8/12 in Cambridge

After a few romps in Allston over the past 8 months, Canada's beloved electro-pop bandits Dragonette gets back in the ol' glitter-van and jazzes up the Middle East down in Cambridge on Aug. Tonight @ CommonGround: Collidescope launch

I don't know much about this but I am intrigued by this. I'll always give new dance parties at the CommonGround a fair shake (heyo!), but this Collidescope night bills itself as a live electronic music dance party, which is a nice added wrinkle I'm assuming means 2 bands and DJs doing their thing. Tonight Stereo Telescope and #1 Dad & DJ Fred Mertz do the launch honors.

CG is a weird place for this -- I can't ever remember seeing a live show there in the past decade -- but fuck yeah Allston Dance City 2010 and stuff. Will hit this on the way home from GS... Stereo Telescope sounds after the flyer jump.

The Postelles tonight at Great Scott

Previous post I mentioned skipping the slow pokes and day-glo body paint across the river this evening, and here's why. The Postelles are fucking fantastic, reminding me of a stripped down Libertines but without the smack habit, and hey, they just might swing by the pill later this summer. But tonight we get a peek... Also on the bill are Alberta Cross and the 22-20s, but le 'Stelles are on first so get there at 9pm doors.

June 1: Finding slow neon trouble in Cambridge

While I might be locked in to the Postelles at Great Scott and Stereo Telescope doing a rare live show at the CommonGround (whaaa) on the Allston side of town, Cambridge's Central Square once again finds itself in no desperate need of Fun.

Over at Enormous Room, the DJs SSLLOOWW shit down like wwhhooaa, a party I've been told I need to check out but still have yet to. Nearby at the Mid Easy, things go regular-speed as the kids of Throwed take over the downstairs room and cover themselves in day-glo body paint. Really, you can't lose, and if you like slow jams in neon, tonight is your night.

In My Head: The Walkmen 'The Rat'

Amazing day, amazing weekend, amazing everything. Best of times at this current pace, and an unbelievably incredible few months ahead, regardless of which path materializes in the next week or so (Last day at Herald = June 11). But today was all about BBQ and friends and vodka and an iPod mix that hit all spots.

The highlight? One of the best songs of the 2000s, piercing through the hazy, Quebec smoke-filled spring Boston air #SmokeMonsieur. I think "The Rat" clocked in as my 4th best Song of the Decade, behind only "Since U Been Gone," "Maps" and BM Linx's "Understanding Orange." Great hearing it unexpectedly over burgers and boozing.

Happy birthday, Carl Lavin

The Man Who Saved Great Scott celebrates 40 years of life tomorrow (Mass Pike hint: a roadside mileage chart just outside Boston heading West has destination mile-counts as 5 31 70). We'll be down at GS doing a roast in his honor, around 9 p.m. this evening, because why the fuck not. I may have hired belly dancers.

Advanced: Veil Veil Vanish @ the pill June 18

We're still a few weeks away, but it's never to early to get acclimated with awesome. I found San Francisco's Veil Veil Vanish while flipping through a Metropolis Records catalogue, and well, I'm easy: Print shit like a "potent concoction of The Cure meets A Place to Bury Strangers," as Noise Pop wrote, and I'm intrigued. After one listen, I was hooked. A few days and a handful of emails later, we secured June 18 for them to swing by the pill as part of their east coast tour, and we're all kinds of excited.
