I Herald-hyped this earlier in the week, but might as well post it here: There are certainly no shortage of Soul Nights around the Boston area, but now the time-honored dance party trend has hit Somerville. Local DJ veteran Deano Sounds has set up Saturday night shop at the Highland Kitchen with Soul Shake, weaving a soundtrack of danceable 60s and funk for those taking a breather from the electric Central Square scene.
“It’s a great restaurant and bar and we’re trying to get it established as place to go dancing to more unique soul/funk from the 60s,” reports Deano to Hotline. ”Like Brits did in Manchester at the Twisted Wheel.”
There is no cover, and the Shake usually gets going after 10 p.m.
