I came across the Cambridge licensing board minutes from last month, and pulled together this note for today's Hotline column: Defunct Cambridge Goth club ManRay may rise from the dead.
Owner Don Holland appears before the Cambridge licensing board May 26 to ask for an extension of his inactive license to serve alcohol. Holland told the board last month that he is in talks to resurrect the Central Square nightspot, which shuttered almost four years ago. Speculation is that Holland has his eye on the Green Street Grill, located around the corner from the old ManRay site.
From 1985 to 2005, ManRay was Ground Zero for gay, fetish and underground arts in Boston, hosting several dance nights a week. Nirvana, Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy and VNV Nation all took the stage.
